“Faces of Russian Resistance” is a series of international exhibitions about Russians who resisted Putin’s criminal regime and ended up in prison. The exhibition in Zurich is organised by the Community Future Russia—Switzerland.

“People in Russia love Putin”, “Most people in Russia support the war”, “People in Russia do not protest”—these are clichés that we often hear in different countries from those who are not familiar with the real situation in Russia.

​

A group of local politicians and anti-war activists had to leave Russia. Together with us, they are presenting a project to break these stereotypes. Our goal is to share the stories of those who have been fighting for civil rights, freedom of speech and fair elections for over 20 years. And, of course, against war.

​

“Faces of Russian Resistance” are not only politicians who openly fought for freedom in Russia. They are also ordinary citizens who could not live under the false propaganda and aggressive invasion of a neighbouring country. They are men and women, young and old, political activists, artists, researchers, students, fathers and mothers. They were thrown into prison, some for a few years, others for decades.

According to Memorial, Russia’s oldest human rights organisation, there are 661 political prisoners in Russia. We want to share their stories. With this exhibition, we will show the faces and fates of people who oppose Putin’s regime. There are people in Russia who oppose war, protest, share their opinions on social media, distribute anti-war leaflets, set fire to military recruitment offices, ensure competition in political elections, head human rights organisations, they conduct anti-corruption investigations and organise anti-war events. The world needs to know about them.

Entrance is free, the exhibition in German with the possibility to read or listen to information about prisoners of Putin's regime in Russian and English.
